Oil Pastels and Sketches
Art finds a way
While I was in the hospital, I faced limitations and had to pick up a new skill - oil pastel drawing, something I had never tried before. I also had to work on rebuilding the strength in my hands due to nerve damage.
I wouldn't describe my early work as my finest, but over time, I improved. People with MS often say, "If you don't use it, you lose it." So, I decided to start again! It felt like rediscovering the joy of being a child, learning to draw, adapting to my limitations, and mastering the medium.
I have a profound affection for impressionism and believe that art should evoke emotions in the viewer. While realistic art is impressive, I prefer art that stirs feelings within. If I wanted a photograph, I'd simply look at one. I appreciate the effort that goes into creating photorealistic art, but for me, art is about more than just replication.
I hope you enjoy my journey, which was both a struggle and an adventure.
